Borrowing Privileges

SIM membership privilege allows the use and loan of library resources. Individual, Corporate, and Student Members whose membership is current can avail of the library services.

An Employee of a company that is a Corporate Member is eligible to enjoy library privileges and only needs to register with the library during his/her initial visit.

To register, an employee is required to produce his/her original NRIC accompanied by a letter from the HR Department of his/her firm. Alternatively you may also show your staff identification pass (with photograph) in order to authenticate your employment with the company.

During subsequent visits, the employee is required to present the NRIC and staff identification pass to borrow books.

Students and Individual members are required to produce their membership card when borrowing books.

Borrowing

Each member is entitled to borrow a maximum of six items from the libraries. These include print and/or non-print media.

The NRICs or bar-coded SIM Membership cards need to be presented for check-out transactions. Our friendly personnel will assist with checking out the resources at the circulation counter.

In addition, members may also use the Self-Checkout machines to borrow items. Click here to view video

A friendly reminder notice will be sent three days prior to the stipulated due date to the member’s registered email address.

As membership cards and NRICs are non-transferable, members who wish to authorise a representative to carry out any library transaction on their behalf are required to provide a letter of authorisation.
